Eat Well, Live Well: 6 Nutrition Tips for a Radiant Life

When it comes to eating and living well, we’ve probably all heard a wide array of advice- buy this product, choose this diet, never eat that, and on and on. They are certainly not all bad, but it is easy to feel overwhelmed by all the tips, tricks, products, and ads, especially when the advice we hear seems to often contradict! This is why knowing and sticking to the basics is so important, and that is what we will be touching on here. Of course, be in communication with your Primary Care Provider as they will be able to provide personalized and educated insight into your specific health needs. That being said, read on for eight nutrition tips for a radiant life!

Though we often try to drink plenty of water, this is one tip that can be hard to remember in our busy lives. Hydration is one of the pillars that your overall physical health is built on, so being consistent is key here! Proper hydration looks different for everybody, but it’d be a great start to carry a water bottle with you wherever you go, limit sugary, fat-loaded, and alcoholic drinks, and keep track of how much water you’re drinking daily (Healthline)!

We’ve all been told, likely ever since we were kids, to eat up all our fruits and veggies. Fruits and veggies contain many vitamins and minerals, and one of those great things is fiber. Fiber is a multi-faceted health wonder for the body. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “Fiber helps maintain digestive health and helps us feel fuller longer. Fiber also helps control blood sugar and lowers cholesterol levels. Fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds are good sources of fiber.”

Protein helps your body operate optimally! It can help you build and maintain muscle mass, increase the number of calories you are burning during the day, and help you feel fuller for longer (Healthline). Protein can be found in nuts, dairy, meat, and more!

Nature is full of a beautiful array of colors and we should embrace that in our diets! This ensures that we are eating a variety of nutrients that are critical to our health and wellbeing! Don’t be overwhelmed- eating the rainbow can start small. The CDC recommends adding herbs to pastas and salads, adding fruit to your yogurt, and tossing some diced veggies into stews and omelets!

A healthy diet is about knowing what to eat, what to reduce, and how to find balance. Don’t feel like you can never eat ice cream again in order to live a healthy and radiant life. That being said, some things you may consider reducing for the sake of your health are refined carbs, added sugar, processed foods, sodium, trans fat, and alcohol (Healthline).

Realistically, it can be hard for many to find the time to plan and cook healthy meals regularly. Sometimes modern problems require modern solutions! If you have a hard time making a healthy diet work, consider utilizing the tools at your disposal. For example, a homemade shake can be an easy, efficient, and tasty way to get in your fruits and veggies! Supplements can help support us in areas where we may be lacking nutrients, and today there are many meal plan delivery services that allow for a healthy diet while taking out most of the work!
